Shechen Shedra, Tibet
Shechen Monastery in Kham,Tibet was renowned for the many great scholars that studied and taught there. In the 1950’s the monastery complex including its shedra (philosophical college) was destroyed.
Dilgo Khyentse Fellowship, with the help of dedicated donors, has rebuilt the shedra in the hope that Shechen can once again become a key center of knowledge. There are now 220 monks living and studying the nine-year college course under the supervision of a main khenpo and five teachers.
The high standard of its curriculum and the excellent accommodations provided at the college have attracted students from 53 monasteries from surrounding areas. It is now once again a lively center of study.
