Rabjam Rinpoche is rarely in the United States and this is a great opportunity to make or strengthen a connection with him and the lineage of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He is one of the few teachers who can bestow these empowerments. They are a gift to receive and quite unique as the late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche did not share his own discovered terma widely.
We look forward to seeing you. Book now to reserve your seat.

Your Fresco Gift Doubled by New Matching Fund
We are happy to report that as of the end of July we have raised $85,000 of our fundraising goal to complete the repainting of Shechen’s frescos that were destroyed in the 2015 earthquake. We are ¾ of the way there. Thank you to all who have generously supported this project. We now have a commitment for a matching fund of $25,000 to help us complete the painting of these lineage figures.
Artists from Shechen’s Tsering Art School have been busy decorating and painting the pillars and some parts of the walls for some months now. In July, the art school’s master painter, Konchok Lhadrepa, ceremoniously began the first line drawing for the large Guru Rinpoche image that will adorn the monastery walls. Konchok-la worked directly under the direction of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche on Shechen’s original murals and he is directing the artists on this project.
Join together as a center or group to sponsor a wall, or wall panel, co-sponsor a main central figure, or smaller image. And smaller donations are always welcome. Double your gift by giving now to match our $25,000 matching fund. https://shechenfrescos.org
Rabjam Rinpoche in Europe
Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche attended the first ever Nyingma Monlam in Switzerland. It was held at Rigzin Thegchok Ling in Lausanne, for three days from June 28-30 and Rabjam Rinpoche was invited to preside over the gathering and give teachings and empowerments. Here is a video link to Rabjam Rinpoche’s opening remarks prior to the empowerment: https://youtu.be/-ZDeD-nGNjo
In early August, Rabjam Rinpoche visited Tashi Palbar Ling in the Dordogne, France, where he spent several days giving teachings. His hosts were Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche, Tulku Pema Wangyal, Rangdrol Rinpoche, and their family and sangha.
After Dordogne, Rinpoche visited several other Nyingmapa centers in France, to the joy of everyone.
Tibetan Buddhist Inter-School Debate in Tibet
A debate between the different schools of Tibetan Buddhism was hosted and held at Shechen Monastery in Kham, Tibet, in June as part of the 27th Great Seminar on Himalayan Culture at the Shechen Buddhist Institute for the Five Sciences.
Monastics participated from all five schools of Buddhism including Bon. Debate is part of traditional philosophical training in logic, common to all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Two parties engage in a lively debate, one known as the challenger and the other is the questioner. Photos show the challenger enthusiastically driving their argument home, standing while they clap one hand down into other, proving the superiority of the logic that they are defending.
Orgyen Chodzong Nunnery News
In May, Rabjam Rinpoche and Adzom Gyalse Rinpoche joined the nuns for their annual 10-day Vajrakilaya drupchen. The entire ceremony, including sacred music and dance, is performed by the nuns. In July, they offered a 100,000 feast offerings presided over by Rinpoche and concluded on Guru Rinpoche’s birthday, which is also the birthday of Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche. The whole sangha including 100 nuns and local disciples and devotees joined in the celebration of Yangsi Rinpoche’s birthday.
Shechen Nunnery in Bhutan was the first monastic center formed by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche after he left Tibet and is one of the few facilities in Bhutan where women can study and practice the dharma, and in particular, according to the lineage of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.
The nunnery provides for the nuns’ complete education in addition to covering all expenses for their food, medical care, shelter, and clothing. You can help by sponsoring a nun for $250 US per year, or $20/month.
Memories of Transmissions in Nepal
In April, Rabjam Rinpoche bestowed the reading transmission for the writings of Jigme Lingpa and Dza Patrul as well as Longchen Nyingtik Empowerments to over 12,000 at Shechen Monastery in Nepal. Following are two personal accounts of this amazing event.
About the Transmissions in Nepal
By Mark Sobralske
This spring, from April 12th through April 29th, Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche gave the oral transmissions of the collected written works of Rigzin Jigme Linga and Dza Patrul Rinpoche, as well as all the empowerments of the Longchen Nyingtik root volumes to thousands of students from around the world. Khenchen Pema Sherab had requested the lung (reading transmission) of the Sung bum of Jigme Lingpa, and the monks from Shechen requested the Patrul Sungbum.
On the first day of the oral transmissions, Rinpoche spoke briefly and mentioned that he spent many years with the late Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and received all the teachings he gave during that time.
