Honoring Nepal: May 12, 2015 Second Earthquake Hits
May 12th, 2016 | Published in NEWS
We honor the resilience and courage of the Nepalese people on the anniversary of the second earthquake (7.3 magnitude) that struck the country on May 12, 2015.
Nepal was still reeling from the devastating quake of April 25 when the second earthquake hit. It was followed by numerous strong aftershocks; created major landslides that buried whole villages, and collapsing already weakened buildings.
Shechen Monastery was badly affected by the second quake as well.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us over this difficult year. Here are some recent photos of the rebuilding of Shechen’s main temple.
Please add your support and restore the monastery once again to a dynamic place of spiritual and cultural vitality.
