Tibetan New Year (Losar) Ceremonies at Shechen Monastery, Nepal
February 8th marks the beginning of the new year in the Tibetan calendar - the Year of the Earth Rat. Annually at this time, Shechen Monastery performs special ceremonies, and drubchens (ceremonies that extend for 24 hours over many days).
The new year ceremonies begin with prayers to remove any obstacles and conclude with a sacred dance performance in the courtyard of the Monastery. The public is cordially invited to attend.
