About Us

Shechen is dedicated to the preservation and continuation of the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual and cultural heritage. In particular, our emphasis is on the Nyingma lineage of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

The 2500 year-old teachings of Buddhism, with their pragmatic approach to the mind and emotions and focus on compassion, remain profoundly relevant to modern day life.

Under the guidance of Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, our educational and cultural programs:

• Provide for the support and education of over 1,000 monks, nuns, and children who receive an authentic education in Buddhist philosophy, sacred arts, and meditation in our schools and monasteries.

• Preserve Tibet’s spiritual lineage through our philosophical colleges and retreat centers.
• Archive rare Tibetan books and artwork.
• Reproduce lost texts.
• Revive authentic Tibetan painting and crafts and the sacred dance tradition of eastern Tibet.

Our programs are located in Tibet, Nepal, India, and Bhutan. Through the generosity of sponsors and donors, Shechen has made great strides in preserving the living legacy of Tibet.
